I have a workaround. It appears to be a bug Microsoft had seen before and a fix is in the works no ETA when it will be available - could be a while. Re-enabling C3 state causes the server to BSOD when booting, and setting back to disabled it boots up fine - so that definately seems to be the cause. I would imagine, had I known this, that if I had disabled the C3 State in the BIOS prior to my in-place upgrade that it would have finished successfully. Regardless, the workaround is acceptable in my instance as it will let me continue with the rebuild of my Hyper-V Cluster with R2.
I just finished upgrading my desktop to RTM and it went well. It also has Hyper-V, but is just a lowly OptiPlex Well, you can't "upgrade" a Windows cluster to Windows R2.
I had assumed that by evicting the passive node, rebuilding with R2 I would be able to join the existing cluster, fail the resources over to the new R2 node, evict the old node, rebuild as R2, rejoin and have an updated R2 cluster. Sadly you know what happens when you assume something - that doesn't work because the R2 node won't join and start in a cluster. The cluster versions are not compatible. So you have to do everything you normally would, attach it to thr existing clustered storage, configure networking etc..
