Any help is greatly appreciated! Friday, June 26, AM. Thank you for the offers for help but I have actually figured out how to get it to work! Here are the steps I did to get it to work: It is a good idea to Make a System Restore Point before attempting this process. Turn off any Microsoft services that you are pretty sure you are not using highlight each one in the list to see it's description.
Now reboot to a bare bones setup. Also, disconnect the network cable - now only the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are connected to the computer plus the power, Duh. Reboot again. Continue the CheckSUR utility and rebooting after each time until it either has no more errors or cannot repair the remaining ones.
It will go through many reboots and finally complete after many hours of crunching away with success hopefully. Now you are ready to Apply the SP2 Upgrade that you downloaded in the first step. Hopefully this one will complete successfully for you as well. Now you are ready to begin to put your system back to normal setup. Connect the network cable and run Windows Update to apply any patches required and reboot. Continue to run Windows Update and rebooting until there are no more patches to apply Don't for get to select the optional updates if needed.
Re-enable the services and start-up programs that you previously disabled and reboot again. Now connect all the devices which you previously disconnected, including any that you only sometimes have connected. Allow it to install the device drivers and reboot again more money for Microsoft?

It then reboots and repeats the same steps. Been doing that for an hour or so now. I have tried restarting the machine but it just jumps right back into the loop. I can get to safe mode but not sure how to unload these steps out of the boot routine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm running Vista Home Premium. Thanks, Chris. Joined Apr 6, Messages Try doing a system restore from the installation dvd or recovery partition to the entry directly before the install. Tried all options to get back into windows. The only option i have at the moment seems to be to restore to factory settings as i cannot seem to get back into windows. Is there any way to stop it trying to load this service pack install. Maybe something in the boot menu??
Not looking forward to having to rebuild the whole thing Chris. Joined Jul 9, Messages 1. Thank you Microsoft! I have been working with them for several weeks and we finally got a fix!
Check and see if KB is installed on your computer, if it is remove it. If you don't want to remove it, or if it is not installed, as was my case, inport the following registry key: Windows Registry Editor Version 5. I installed both SP2 and IE8!
I sincerely hope this works for the rest of you. We've all been suffering through this long enough. And once again, thank you Microsoft and in particular satyendra! As i have previously stated my machine just goes in an endless loop boot, load windows, tries to load sp2 upgrade before log in screen, craps out, tries to revert, reboots, repeats.
Does the same in safe mode but will let it run a few times in case it manages to work itself out. Any idea what could cause this error? I saw on the web some posts about MSIs leaking memory, wonder if that could be it: A memory leak might not be significant if you install SP2 on a mono- or bilingual system, but could be fatal if you have languages installed.
